The Petzl company manufacturers mountaineering, rock, ice, aid and technical sports products such as the Carabiner, Belay Devices, such as the popular Gri Gri, and Mountaineering Ice Axes, crampons, and the harness. The popular and versatile Petzl Headlamps and types of ascender and pulleys have assisted mountaineers for decades.
About Petzl
The US division is located in Freeport Center Building M-7, Clearfield, Utah. The company originated in France more than a generation ago and has grown with divisions in many countries world-wide. He initially developed devices for his passion of exploring caves in France. With innovative and successful ideas, the use of his caving tool inventions were extended to applications in mountaineering. The fall protection and ascent Petzl equipment became highly acclaimed and used in a wide range of vertical ascending and descending activities.
Three Categories of Petzl Equipment:
- Petzl Sport. This is category of Petzl equipment for mountaineering, rock, ice, aid, canyons, caves, and via ferrata (via ferrata is a technical route with an installed protection system which provides access without using your own protection)
- Petzl Work/Rescue. The category includes industry fall protection for construction and emergency rescue.
- Petzl Headlamps. Widely used across all sports, industry and rescue activities to provide hands free illumination for any activity, whether work or play.
